neoRADIUS – Neology Radius Solution (OSS)

RADIUS (Remote Authentication Dial-In User Service) is the authentication protocol used by the network infrastructure to validate usernames, passwords and to assign service tiers to users. A radius server translates the billing system service provisioning parameters into instructions and rules that network devices can understand in order to deliver the required service to an end-user.

RADIUS is used in nearly every ISP to provide Authentication, Authorization and Accounting services.

neoRADIUS supports complicated packages and business rules allow for complete postpaid, and prepaid rating and billing of customers. In addition, multiple “contexts” are supported with differential rating rules per context, thus allowing a single radius account to support for example ADSL, 3G and Dialup usage with different byte, or credit-based depending on the access technology.

neoRADIUS is not just a regular RADIUS AAA database-based aggregation server such as FreeRADIUS. It is a comprehensive rules, and event-based OSS system, that can generate CDR’s for VOIP traffic, rate data-usage in realtime and manage customer bandwidth usage based on complicated business rules.

The comprehensive event system allows for advanced features such as firewall pinholing, when a customer logs on or off, or for the provisioning of additional services based on the customer profile and package, such as content filtering or custom routing. In addition, Neology’s integration with Cisco’s Service Control Engine (PCUBE) allows neoRADIUS to provide login events to the SCE, and receive and rate Raw Data Records for redemption of bandwidth or additional charging of specific network services used.

A simple stored-procedure, and SOAP based API allows backend applications to easily interface with the radius server. Comprehensive SNMP monitoring and Ajax based user interface allows for complete management of a neoRADIUS installation.

If you need to provide wholesale services on a shared neoRADIUS instance, the system allows for multiple realms as well as realm-based quotas and rating.

Migrate from your old solution to neoRADIUS easily! Pass-through proxying to an alternative radius servier can be configured. If a users does not exist locally in neoRADIUS, a fallback RADIUS target gets a proxied request. This allows you to easily migrate from your old RADIUS solution to neoRADIUS until such time as the user data has been correctly and accurately migrated.
