Neology Provisioning System - neoPROV

neoPROV is a provisioning system for WiMAX networks. The 802.16 standards requires a CPE (Customer Premises Equipment) to be provisioned on the sector controller that it connects to in order to establish the appropriate service flows to pass traffic to the core network.

Most providers propose their own element management or network management software as part of their solution, to fulfil this provisioning function. Pricing is usually based on the number of managed CPE’s or sector controllers. In addition a DHCP server solution is required in order to assign IP addresses to managed CPE’s. The integration API for vendor-supplied management systems is typically based on a Corba/ETSI “Northbound” interface, which has been proven difficult and slow to integrate with.

Without integration into the vendor supplied Northbound API’s NMS’es normally requires an operator to manually configure flows, on a specific sector controller where the CPE has registered.

In addition most Vendor management tools still lack the ability for customer self-registration and installation.

neoPROV allows true self-installation by a customer using an installation program providing visual indicators that allows the customer to orient the CPE for maximum signal strength, and a “wizard” like interface that walks the user through creating their PPPoE profile.

neoPROV also supports user roaming between sector controllers after initial registration, thus offering users a true nomadic WiMAX broadband experience with zero effort required in terms of provisioning, by the operator.
